About Buildings By Bill

Meet Bill Gardner - Your Partner in Quality Construction
I'm Bill Gardner, owner and operator of Buildings By Bill, Inc. For over 35 years, I've been building custom pole barns across Central Florida—and I still get my hands dirty on every single project.
When you hire Buildings By Bill, you're not hiring a sales team that disappears after you sign the contract. You're hiring me and my crew. I coordinate and manage every phase of your job from design to completion, and you'll see me on your build site working alongside my team.
That's how I've always done business, and it's how I'll always do business.

Why I Build the Way I Do
After 35 years in construction, I've seen what lasts and what fails. I've watched builders cut corners to win bids, only to leave customers with buildings that start deteriorating within years.
I've seen the damage cheap materials cause in Florida's climate. And I've heard too many stories from property owners who wish they'd spent a bit more to get it done right the first time.
That's why Buildings By Bill operates differently. We'd rather outbuild our competitors than out-bid them.

What Drives Me

I'm committed to quality craftsmanship from start to finish. Your building isn't just constructed—it's crafted with precision and care.
I avoid the one-size-fits-all approach because I know every property is different. Each design should be as unique as its owner, tailored to your specific needs and constructed to withstand everything Florida's climate can throw at it.
My standards of excellence get passed on to my crews. When you work with Buildings By Bill, everyone on your project holds themselves to the same high bar.
We strive to provide quality customer service and earn your trust through honesty, dependability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
We surpass our customers' expectations while maintaining our company's integrity, reliability, and accountability. That's not marketing talk—that's how we operate.
Family-Owned and Operated
Buildings By Bill is a family-owned business, and that matters more than you might think.
When you're a family business, your reputation isn't just business—it's personal. My name is on every building we construct. My family's name is on the trucks in your driveway. That means I care about your project in a way corporate builders simply can't.
Ruth and I make decisions together about this company. We're not answering to investors or shareholders pushing for higher profit margins. We're answering to our customers and our community.
When I tell you we'll be there Tuesday morning, we're there Tuesday morning. When I say we'll use premium materials, that's exactly what goes into your building. My word means something because my reputation is everything.

Licensed, Experienced, and Accountable
I'm a Licensed Contractor in Florida (#CRC1334091), and I take that responsibility seriously.

Being licensed means I'm accountable to the state of Florida for every building we construct. It means we follow proper permitting procedures, meet all building codes, and engineer structures to handle hurricane wind loads. It means you're protected if anything goes wrong.
A lot of builders operate without proper licensing, or they hide behind a general contractor license while subbing out all the actual work. That's not how I do business. When you hire Buildings By Bill, you're hiring a licensed contractor who'll be personally involved in your project from start to finish.
All In-House Labor (No Subcontractor Shuffle)
The only exceptions are electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, which require specialized licensing. Everything else—all the framing, roofing, siding, finishing work—that's done by my team. The same crew I've worked with for years.
Because when you use subcontractors, you lose quality control. You're dealing with different crews who have different standards and different priorities. Communication breaks down. Accountability gets fuzzy. And if something goes wrong two years later, good luck tracking down which sub was responsible.
When Buildings By Bill builds your project, I know exactly who did every piece of work because I was there watching it happen. If you call me five years from now with a question, I can tell you exactly how we built that section and why we did it that way.
That's the difference between a builder and a project coordinator.
What You Can Expect When Working With Us
I'm a builder, not a salesman. I'll tell you what you need, even if it's not the most expensive option. And I'll tell you if something won't work the way you're envisioning it—because I'd rather have that conversation up front than disappoint you later.
You won't just meet me during the sales pitch. I'll be on your property throughout your project, working alongside my crew and making sure everything is done right.
I use premium materials designed for Florida's challenging climate. After 35 years, I know which products hold up and which ones fail. I won't put anything on your property I wouldn't use on my own.
Your building will meet or exceed Florida's building codes and hurricane wind load specifications. I've had customers whose Buildings By Bill barns were the only structures on their property that survived hurricanes intact. That's what proper engineering looks like.
When I give you a quote, that's what you'll pay unless you change the scope of work. I provide detailed line items so you understand exactly where your money is going.
If something goes wrong—and occasionally things do on construction projects—I'll make it right. My reputation depends on your satisfaction, and I plan to be in business in Central Florida for many more years.

Serving Central Florida
Based in Saint Cloud, Florida, I've built custom pole barns throughout Central Florida—from Kissimmee to Orlando, Winter Haven to Lakeland, and everywhere in between.
I know this area. I understand Florida's building codes and permitting requirements. I've worked with the soil conditions, the weather patterns, and the unique challenges of building in this climate for over three decades.
When you hire a local, family-owned builder, you're not just getting someone who'll build your project and disappear. You're getting someone who lives in this community, whose reputation matters here, and who'll still be around if you need anything years from now.
